From Jerusalem

Our dear Sr. Nieves Crespo, shared with us few thoughts about her experience in Jerusalem. Here is what she wrote:

Roman Catholic church located on the Mount of Olives immediately facing the Old City of JerusalemAs I arrive in Jerusalem I can feel the same air that Jesus breathed and the same ground where He walked… It is like to feel that, suddenly, many of the passages of the Bible that I have been meditating during many years of my life…  become real!!!

To walk around  Jerusalem city walls… to reach the mount of olives, the grotto Mount of Oliveswhere the apostles slept…. To enter in the Holy Sepulchre Basilica and to reach the Golgata and visiting the empty tomb… To CELEBRATE THE MASS IN EACH OF THESE PLACES!!!

It’s an incomparable experience to reach the pool of Bethesda and to read John`s Gospel and to listen “Stand up, take your mat and walk”… and to have the time to listen slowly each word of the Pool of Betsaidaencounter with the paralytic.

To reach the hill where tradition says that Jesus taught his disciples to pray the Our Father … and find it written in any language…Our Father in Amaharic

To reach Bethany and to enter in  Marta’s house where Jesus met his friends in different moments… where Maria sat down at the Lord’s feet and listened to him … and where Marta become the Jesus’ follower … To listen ‘Lazarus, come out!’ … and, just before of the Passover of Jesus, “Mary brought in a pound of

Lazarus' tombvery costly ointment, pure spikenard, and with it anointed the feet of Jesus, wiping them with her hair; the house was filled with the scent of the ointment”…

It is something incredible to reach Bethlehem and to kneel and kiss the place where the tradition says that Jesus was born, and to sit down to read and meditate the Gospel…. It is something very special to enter in the shepherds’ grotto and to listen the angel’s words: “Do not be afraid. Look, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the wholeBetlehem

people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord”

Really I thank God for this unique experience that I am living, and I also thank  each of you and I promise a prayer in each place where I have the privilege to stay, to pray and to contemplate….

God bless each of you

Nieves
